by | Jun 20, 2025

NFL greats join forces with Tennessee DHS to equip dads with parenting skills, resources, and family fun

WHAT:

This Saturday, June 21, former NFL players will host a “Training Camp for Dads” event in Nashville as part of the National Football League Alumni Association (NFL Alumni) Fatherhood Champions program, spearheaded by the NFL Alumni Association and supported by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Human Services.  Notable alumni who will be in attendance include former NFL players Al Smith and Winston Justice, and former Tennessee Titans players Michael Oher, Brad Hopkins, Dexter McCluster, and Ken Amato

The initiative aims to empower fathers with the tools, resources, and support they need to be present and engaged fathers. The event — equal parts celebration and workshop — brings together NFL alumni, community partners, and families for an afternoon filled with connection, learning, and fun.

Dads can participate in “Drills and Skills” sessions and hands-on programs designed to boost their skills as fathers, including car seat installation, diaper changing, feeding techniques, parenting/co-parenting strategies, and more. The event will also offer valuable resources focused on physical and mental health, alongside job-seeking and financial wellness tips. Attendees can enjoy music, games, food, giveaways, and opportunities to meet NFL alumni for photos and autographs. All families and dads are welcome.
